Thursdays for Families

Thursday is the day to be at church! In addition to our wonderful activities at 4:45 p.m., check out these other wonderful events for Children & Families:

  • 4:00 p.m. We Love to Sing (ages 0-4)
Share the joy of singing with your little ones (ages 0-4). Miss Vicki accompanies on guitar. Register here.
  • 4:00 p.m.  Bible Stories & Legos (ages 4-6)
Hear and talk about Bible stories and then build them out of Legos.
  • 4:00 p.m.  Primary Choir (ages 6-7)
This choir sings twice each month at the 9:10 a.m. Sunday Eucharist. Many children choose to attend Thursdays for Families @ St. James’ after choir. The group begins early music reading skills, choir ensemble basics, and continues learning fundamentals in an age-appropriate and fun rehearsal. Learn more.
What to Expect

worship

We hope to engage everyone in our parish, including our youngest members, in the most important thing we do: Worship together. Most weeks, Thursdays for Families includes a brief worship service with music, a homily from a member of the clergy, and prayers offered by the children. Once a month we go into the church, for our monthly Family Eucharist — an entire service geared to young children and their families. It takes a form similar to our monthly Sunday morning Children’s Eucharist, with age-appropriate homily, prayers and Communion.

learn

Enjoy creative education time as well, with crafts and activities designed to bring the Bible to life. We divide into two groups for age-appropriate activities and come together again for worship and dinner. The nursery is always available so that parents and caregivers can give attention to the older children knowing their infants are cared for.

eat

buffet dinner is served for all families at 5:30 p.m. We are all done by 6:00 p.m.
