A fund instituted to honor Vicki Hall’s twenty-nine years of faithful service and to secure the future of Children’s and Family Ministries at St. James' Church.

“Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.”

—Matthew 19:14

For twenty-nine years, Vicki Hall has been the person at St. James’ making sure our children know that Jesus loves them, and that they belong here.

Vicki knows our child’s name and remembers which families are navigating hard seasons. She has always treated the questions of a five-year-old child as holy. With unwavering dedication and persistence, Vicki has shaped the faith of generations of children, some of whom are now bringing their own children to St. James’.

It is impossible to measure what Vicki has given this parish. But we can try. We can try by doing something meaningful that will endure and help our parish grow and continue to move forward.

We are honored to introduce:
The Vicki Hall Chair in Children’s & Family Ministries

About the Fund

When the Rector and Vestry began to contemplate how St. James’ should honor Vicki Hall, the answer was something that would carry her name and her spirit into the life of this parish long after her retirement this summer.

The answer is The Vicki Hall Chair in Children’s and Family Ministries. The creation of this Chair will provide the financial foundation necessary to attract, support, and retain a gifted Director of Children’s and Family Ministries at St. James’. For generations, Children’s and Family Ministries has been a vital gateway and path for families to become deeply connected to our parish.

Anne and Chris Flowers have made an exceptional founding gift of $1,000,000 to constitute a fund for the Chair. During Eastertide 2026, we are inviting the entire St. James community to join in funding this Chair—to make Vicki’s name a celebrated part of the life and future of this parish. There is not an explicit goal for the fund of this Chair. Dreaming big, a fund of $3 million, as an example, would provide both the revenue needed to attract and secure a gifted Chair of Children’s and Family Ministries as well as offer purposeful ongoing support of the Children’s and Family Ministries programming.

The establishment of this Chair is both a relevant tribute to Vicki Hall and a significant gift to every child and family who will come through the doors of St. James’ long after we are gone.

Please join us in celebrating Vicki Hall!

A gift of any amount is greatly appreciated and a sign of our commitment to the flourishing of children’s ministry.

Frequently-Asked Questions

How do I make a gift?

You may make a gift online or by contacting Kristin Hardwick in our parish office via email or phone at (212) 774-4239.

Does a gift to the Chair replace my annual stewardship pledge?

No, they are separate and distinct acts of giving. Your annual stewardship pledge helps to fund the operating budget of St. James’ and is still the most important gift you can make to sustain the ongoing life of the parish. A specified gift to the fund for the Vicki Hall Chair is a long-lasting added investment in the future of this parish to honor Vicki’s extraordinary legacy.

What kinds of gifts can I make?

The fund for the Chair may receive one-time gifts of cash, checks, and marketable securities including stock, bonds, exchange-traded funds, and mutual funds. Please contact Kristin Hardwick in our parish office via email or phone at (212) 774-4239 to discuss a securities gift.

When can I give to the Fund?

Contributions to the Fund may be made at any time, but we are focusing our efforts as a parish on a brief fundraising campaign during the fifty days of Easter. We will share a Fund update on the Day of Pentecost, May 24, 2026.

Contact the Rev. Zack Thompson with additional questions.
