    { We're Glad You've Visited }

    We welcome you and invite you to enter into a deeper exploration of a community that shares the love of Jesus Christ with each other, our city, and the world. It takes more than a few words to describe a parish, but there are two things we can tell you right away: we are committed to Jesus Christ and from that commitment flows our care for one another and our ministries. In every ministry and program, we at St. James' Church on Madison Avenue at 71st Street invite you to enter more deeply into the life we share in Christ. We hope you will join us.

    The Rev. Brenda G. Husson, Rector

Worship

Worship is the center of our life at St. James’. In worship we are lifted into God’s presence and hear Jesus’ invitation to become his disciples. Worship is where we offer our lives to God in prayer and find ourselves fed at Christ’s Table. And it is through our worship that the Holy Spirit strengthens and empowers us to actively share the love of Jesus Christ with each other, our city, and the world.

All are welcome at St. James' Church. We hope you will join us often and add your voice to our worship of God in Christ.

  • Each of our Sunday services celebrates the Holy Eucharist (Communion), but each also has its own distinctive style. Find which one seems right for you.

  • Mid-week worship occurs on Wednesday mornings and Thursday afternoons (Sept.-May). Small groups also meet throughout the week for Bible study and to pray for one another.

  • Sermons help us interpret and relate God's Word to our daily lives.

  • Participating in worship. The most important role is to be an active member of the congregation, but for those interested, there are many opportunities to help lead worship.

  • Learn more about Baptism & Confirmation, Weddings, and Funerals at St. James'.

  • Music can transform our worship and take us to an altogether deeper experience of God's presence in our midst.

  • Stewardship. Christ calls us to be transformed in our spiritual, physical, relational and financial lives. How might our whole lives praise and honor the God who loves us?
