St. James’ participates in Habitat building projects in the greater New York area several times during the year.

Housing Justice
In cooperation with other faith-based organizations, St. James’ advocates for more equitable governmental housing policies on city, state and federal levels.

In partnership with Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church, volunteers staff a shelter for twelve homeless men weeknights throughout the year. There are two shifts: 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m. the following morning. The early shift is appropriate for youth service, if done with a parent.
