Homeless Shelter: In partnership with Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church, St. James’ volunteers staff a shelter for 15 homeless men every weeknight of the year.

Tuesday Lunch Program: Each Tuesday of the year volunteers prepare and serve a sit-down lunch to approximately 65 of our homeless and hungry Upper East Side neighbors.

Friday Dinner Program: Each Friday evening from September through June, and each Tuesday evening in July and August, volunteers prepare and serve a three-course sit-down dinner to approximately eighty of our homeless and hungry Upper East Side neighbors.

Toiletries Project: Throughout the year, St. James’ collects sample size toiletries which are combined into toiletry kits for our Tuesday Lunch and Friday Dinner Program guests.

Yorkville Common Pantry Food Drive: Throughout the year, St. James’ collects food and dry goods for the clients of Yorkville Common Pantry in East Harlem.

Neighborhood Coalition for Shelter Clothing Drives: In the late 1970s, St. James’ was instrumental in establishing the Neighborhood Coalition for Shelter (NCS) to help homeless people in the community rebuild their lives. St. James’ continues our sponsorship of NCS by providing volunteers and financial support.

Alcoholics Anonymous: St. James’ provides space to fellowship groups of A.A. on Sunday, Monday and Thursday evenings.

Habitat for Humanity: Several times a year, St. James’ volunteers participate in Habitat building projects.

Housing Advocacy: In cooperation with faith-based organizations, St. James’ advocates for more equitable governmental housing policies on the city, state and federal level.

St. Ann’s Church in the Bronx: Each spring volunteers go to St. Ann’s to work in the garden, worship with the St. Ann’s community and celebrate our friendship with a festive lunch. In the fall, we plan to host the St. Ann’s community at St. James’ to work on a service project and worship and enjoy lunch together.

Women’s Association Christmas Stocking Stuffing: This group distributes approximately 1500 stockings each Christmas to organizations caring for sick and needy children. Contact Grace Beacham.

Share the Joy: In cooperation with T.O.P.S. FOR YOU, INC., a resource center in Bushwick, each Christmas members of St. James’ donate and wrap gifts for needy families. Contact Grace Beacham.
