In September 2011, St. James’ Church began a two-year reading of the entire Bible together as a parish, one week at a time. We focused on the Old Testament (also known as the Hebrew Bible in Judaism and in academic study) in 2011-2012, and on the New Testament in 2012-2013. Our project together is complete, but our personal study of scripture is never finished. Use the resources and reading guides below to aid your study or to replicate the project with friends or in other congregations.
- The Bible Project blog features weekly introductory remarks and discussion questions -- and is complemented by "Coffee House" entries that offer music and poetry chosen to accompany the assigned reading
Listen to recordings from our Adult Education Forums on readings or broader illuminating themes
Small groups, scheduled throughout the week, discussed the week's reading
- We recommend these Bibles for your reading and study.
Explore suggested readings and websites that will enhance your experience.
Watch slideshows of art or information (PowerPoint presentations in .pdf format) that accompanied the Forums.
- The Poetry Page contains poems chosen for readings assigned before the Coffee House was up and running - still worth a look!
