    { We're Glad You've Visited }

    We welcome you and invite you to enter into a deeper exploration of a community that shares the love of Jesus Christ with each other, our city, and the world. It takes more than a few words to describe a parish, but there are two things we can tell you right away: we are committed to Jesus Christ and from that commitment flows our care for one another and our ministries. In every ministry and program, we at St. James' Church on Madison Avenue at 71st Street invite you to enter more deeply into the life we share in Christ. We hope you will join us.

    The Rev. Brenda G. Husson, Rector

    { First Time Families }

    We've found that St. James' mix of rich Anglican tradition and innovative, fun family worship and programming is just the right recipe for helping kids know God's love.

    When you come to church at St. James', you can expect to find...

    SPACE TO PRAY. Our services include hymns, prayers, and time for silence, as well as Communion and sermons that connect our Scriptures to our lives.

    SPACE TO BE YOURSELF. Worshipers at St. James' come from many different places, backgrounds, and perspectives.

    SPACE TO MAKE CONNECTIONS. Whether it's your first time or your thousandth, there's always an opportunity to get better connected with God and one another. Join us at coffee hour or stop by the Welcome station on your way out. We look forward to meeting you.

St. Jamesians (20s & 30s)

St. Jamesians are parishioners in their 20s & 30s who meet regularly for spiritual reflectio, service projects, and social events. Newcomers and friends are always welcome. The purpose of our group is to connect young adults to one another and to the whole parish. We are here to help you find ways of being a part of this community that you find meaningful and that bring you joy.

Connect with the St. Jamesians

Spiritually vibrant

  • St. Jamesians in Lent
    Although Lent is a time for personal reflection, it is not a journey we make alone. St. Jamesians are sharing poems, readings, songs, visual art -- whatever speaks to their spirit -- with other St. Jamesians this Lent. Contact Chris Harding to join the distribution list.
  • Eastertide Small Group
    Join with other Young Adults as we gather in Easter for a time of exploration, reflection, and fellowship. All are welcome. Contact Chris Harding to learn more.

Outreach oriented

  • Lenten Day of Service
    Do you have a favorite family recipe? Come and join other St. Jamesians as we cook dinner for the 10 homeless LGBTQ Youth housed at Trinity Place Shelter. We will cover three nights of dinner for the teens, so suggest a recipe and we'll try to include it! Contact Chris Harding to volunteer.
  • Host the Dinner Program with other young adults on April, January 29
    We'll celebrate spring by hosting the Friday Dinner Program together. Contact Chris Harding to volunteer (or to be head chef!). The St. Jamesians host the Friday Night Dinner Program on the fifth Friday of the month.

Faithfully friends

  • Enjoy regular Sunday Brunches (September - May)
    Meet with other 20s & 30s at coffee hour following the 11:15 a.m. service on the third Sunday of every month to go out for a no-host brunch in the neighborhood. This is a great event for both newcomers and regulars.
