WorshipFrom mid-September to mid-May, the 9:15 a.m. service especially welcomes children and families and offers several opportunities for children and youth to participate actively. Children in 1st grade and older worship with their parents each week. The first Sunday of each month is the Children’s Eucharist: individual classes lead the prayers and design the bulletin covers; the children’s choirs sing. Children in the Primary Class also attend this service with their families. We collect the First Sunday Food Offering which then goes to Yorkville Common Pantry. Children’s Worship Packets are always available at the rear of the church and focus on teaching the Gospel lesson of the day. Each Sunday, children in grades 3 through 12 serve as acolytes; those in grades 5 and higher serve as lay readers; 8th through 12th graders serve as ushers; and 7th through 12th graders lead the prayers.EducationWe are blessed with an incredible staff returning to us with countless years of experience. Nursery Nursery care is available from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Nursery (shorter hours in the summer). The same four caregivers are there to greet and love your little ones every week. Toddlers (2’s & 3’s) The Toddler Class, coordinated by Cheryl Steiner, Sallie Locke, and Joan Robinson, meets from 9:10-11:05 a.m., and is organized around the Learning Center model making use of two to three parent helpers each Sunday. The Toddlers join with the Primary Class for their own Chapel Service each week. This year our Toddler through 6th grade classes are all using a lectionary-based curriculum, Seasons of the Spirit, which seeks to explore meaning and mystery in the Bible through the arts, liturgy and service to others. Primary Class (4-6 yr. olds) The Primary Class meets from 9:10-11:05 a.m., is taught by Erin Burke, Alicia Collier, Inness Hancock, Rema Patachini, and Sylvaine Rameckers. The first Sunday of each month, Primary class students attend the Children's Eucharist with their parents. The remaining Sundays of the month, the Primary class schedule is as follows: Gather time, Toddler-Primary Chapel service, Music, Snack, Lesson and Craft, Closing. The fourth Sunday of the month, the Chapel service will include the Eucharist. The Primary and Toddler classes meet together for a Chapel service each week.
