Help Requested for the Bicentennial

If you can help with any of the items below, contact bicentennial@stjames.org or call Rosa Gentile in the Rector's office at 212.774-4251.

St. James' Christmas Cards: For a bicentennial-year display of St. James’ Christmas cards, we are looking for the cards from 1939, 1940, 1942, 1943, 1949, 1954, 1956, 1958, 1959, 1980, 1989, 1992, 1997, 1998, 2000, and 2001. Although it is not certain when the church actually started sending an annual card, one dated 1938 is the earliest on file in the archives. If you have a card from one of the years above, or cards prior to 1938, and would be willing to donate them to the St. James’ archives, please mail them to the archives or leave them at the Parish House reception desk in an envelope marked for the St. James’ Bicentennial.

Memorabilia: As a supplement to material in the church archives, we are interested in hearing from anyone with papers, letters, sermons, diaries, photographs, leaflets and other printed materials, or other memorabilia relating to the history of St. James’.

Photography: If you take photographs at event throughout the bicentennial year, please consider submitting copies to the church. A photograph or a few may be emailed; for larger quantities, please prepare two disks of your work, each labeled with the event, date, and your name, and leave them at the Parish House reception desk, one for Christine Hoffman and one to be put in the Bicentennial mailbox.
