The Languages of Grace: Poetry in the Bible, the Prayer Book, and the Anglican Tradition
A Lenten Adult Education Forum Series
Brad Whitehurst, parishioner, Vestry member, and English teacher at the Nightingale-Bamford School, and the Rev. Craig Townsend, Vicar, will spend four Sundays looking at the ways poetry has shaped our Christian – and particularly Anglican – faith.
March 20: Poetry in the Bible.
Craig will explore the use and forms of poetry in the Psalms, Job, and the Song of Solomon.
March 27: Poetry in Common Prayer
Craig will argue for the poetic use of language in the Book of Common Prayer.
April 3 and April 10: Poetry in the Anglican Tradition
Brad and Craig will look at British and American poets in the Anglican tradition, from Elizabethan times to our own.
