St. James' Church will celebrate its bicentennial in 2010. Part of the Episcopal Diocese of New York CIty, St. James' was founded in 1810 to serve families who had built summer homes in the Lenox Hill area; today th parish draws its members from across the city and from all walks of life. Extensive programs in family ministries, adult education and music are complemented by vast mission activities from South Africa to the South Bronx, yet worship remains at the heart of the community. Renovations to the church and the parish house, completed in 2004, will ensure St. James' ability to fulflll its mission to bear witness to the love of God through Jesus Christ and inspire its members to live out their ministries in the world.
