Ryan was called to St. James' in July 2010 as a Lilly Fellow, a 2-3 year appointment as he begins his ordained ministry in the Episcopal Church. Ryan will take a full share in home and hospital visits, preaching and worship leadership, and will spend his first year rotating through various ministries at St. James’ in order to experience the full breadth of life and work in this place.
Originally from Durham, North Carolina, Ryan earned his Masters of Divinity at Yale Divinity School, where he served as seminarian and assistant chaplain to the Episcopal Church at Yale. He also holds a diploma in Anglican Studies from Berkeley Divinity School at Yale and a B.A. from the University of Virginia, where he studied history. He is excited to join the St. James’ community, and hopes that all who pass through our doors will find a warm invitation to walk with us as we seek to become disciples of Jesus Christ.
